Mat Classes and Pilates Equipment Classes in Grey Lynn, Ponsonby

Clinical Pilates is the integration of evidence-based physiotherapy with Pilates.  Taught by physiotherapists, clinical Pilates is progressive exercise training directed at developing your core strength improved  body awareness and global strength (your outside muscles).

By strengthening your key muscles for ensuring a strong and stable trunk, lengthening short muscles and correcting your posture and the way you move, our Pilates classes will enable you to rehabilitate from injury or pain, and prevent the risk of these reoccurring.

Pilates classes sizes are small: To ensure you receive quality instruction for maximum results, we keep our pilates mat classes small, with no more than five or six people per session.  Our Pilates equipment classes cater for three or four people per hour.  Private classes can be arranged by appointment.  Please email [email protected]

Bookings are essential and a concession rate is offered for attendance at consecutive classes.

Please note: We require at least 12 hours notice if you are unable to attend your booked class.  Shorter notice or failure to attend your class will incur the full charge.

Our pilates classes are a short drive from Mt Eden, Ponsonby, Grey Lynn, Herne Bay and Pt Chev.

Pilates Mat Classes

Pilates Mat Classes:   If your pain is managed and you are aware of your bodies injury, a Pilates mat class may be a good place to start.  It’s a group run mat session that  utilises exercises which facilitate spine flexibility and strengthen gluteal and abdominal muscles.  During the course of your mat class, the Pilates instructor will teach you the fundamentals and principles of Pilates.  

Our Auckland Pilates mat classes teach you how to correctly activate your deep abdominals (core strength) that support your lower back.  Exercise performed in class is aimed at further strengthening your abdominals and spine

During your class we will use a variety of small equipment, such as triad balls, dense foam rollers, hand weights, resistance circles and therabands to improve your core muscle strength.

Our small class numbers (no more than 5 or 6 people per session) allows for close supervision of technique, ensuring you get the most benefit out of each Pilates session.  Pregnant women are also welcome in our Pilates mat classes.

Our Pilates mat classes are held every Tuesday evening and Saturday morning.

Pilates Equipment Classes

Pilates Equipment Class:  Using Body Balanced equipment from the USA , Pilates sessions are instructed on the equipment to improve your spine flexibility and elongation, to improve your balance and awareness (proprioception) and your deep abominal core strength.

Equipment includes reformers, combo chairs, cadillac tables, arcs and other small equipment.  Our equipment Pilates classes are unique to Auckland. Each client works with a Physiotherapist on individual exercises that enhance their personal injury and increases their speed to recovery and rehabilitation.

So, no two people will perform the same exercise during the class.  Small equipment from Pilates mat classes are also used within our Pilates Equipment Classes.  The use of appropriate equipment will be guided by your physio or therapist.

Bodyreform Pilates classes are limited to a small number of participants to ensure you receive the proper supervision and coaching to ensure maximum results from your exercise.
