Looking for a pilates class local to you?  There is one right under your nose.  Bodyreform has been offering a class outside of their Grey Lynn Physio Clinic in Auckland for nearly 1o years. Wow, that’s a long time!

Our class runs at the Maungawhau School hall presently, at 6.30 -7.30 pm.  Mats, bands, circles all provided for you.  All you need to do is come along with some comfy clothes, and good sense of humor.  We can work you pretty hard, but can also have a chat and gossip sometimes.  Lots of ladies coming to class have come for years, initially with spine problems.  Now you wouldn’t even know they had spine problems.  The strength in their spines, gluteals and abdominals are impressive.

Core abdominal work has proven very very effective in managing spine pain, hip and knee problems.  How you ask?  Well core abdominals work to increase the stability around your torso.  When you have stronger inner abdominals, your spine stays more stable and doesn’t move as much.  The load is taken through your muscles, rather than compressing your disc, vertebrae, ligaments and nerves.  It really works, we see the success daily in our Physio clinic in Grey Lynn, Auckland City.

Don’t forget strengthening the gluteals, and middle back also.  Our whole spine and pelvis is all connected, like a stack of Dominios, when one element starts to break down, another element will compensate in it’s place.  Over time, the compensation weakens and we feel pain.
